Since I read this book, I will write a comment by myself. .
"Who will kill the apparel" Junichi Sugihara (Author), Mutsumi Aihara (Author)
Two of the authors are reporters of Nikkei business and they are in charge of fashion. I also write related articles on the web.
Who will kill the apparel?
It is my favorite form to do something basic and universal on paper, such as cases and updates on the web like this. I hope this form can be added. I would like to see you if I have the opportunity.
Aside from that, some of the people who came out of this book are acquainted and interviewed, but they do not come out to the two Facebook's common friends. I wonder why.
Topics include sharing economies and subscriptions, personalization, storytelling
The composition of this book is very simple. Current situation grasp → History → latest players → future developments.
From the people in the industry it may be novelty as far as the people in the industry understand the current situation and history, but I think that it is easy to read for those not so familiar.
Individually, the latest player, (IT) venture company was interesting. It is a so-called FashionTech venture. I meet with workers and venture business people everyday, but from the context of fashion it was interesting to see them in such a way.
The listed venture companies (fashion × what you are doing new things about IT, about nuances) are as follows.
- Everlane
- Warby Parker
- MM.LaFleur
- GREATS
- ZOZOTOWN (SUN)
- airCloset (Sun)
- Rent the Runway
- nutte / and Colors (Sun)
- Creema (Sun)
- Etsy
- Stripe international
Many other things appeared, I think that it looks like FashionTech like this. There were quite a few foreign companies.
These companies appeared in the context of sharing economies, subscriptions, personalization, storytelling. There is not such a rare feeling from the person on the Tech side, but it is still a new field in the world. I have not seen much of these topics in books so much, so I realized again that it is time to spread to the world.
Mr. Yanai's interview with FAST RETAILING was also posted. It was said that the brand has to propose values, and UNIQLO is making value proposition "Lifeware". I think this is also the context of storytelling.
In general, I thought that there is no loss by reading people related to fashion. Even fashion and FashionTech are all spirited, it may not be necessary to read people, but there are only about 1000 such people in Japan ...
Especially if you are in the fashion industry but are not familiar with fashion ventures, please read Chapter 3 "Consumers are not deceived" Chapter 4 "We are not giving up on the future".
Peitaro is also FashionTech specialty field, so I'd like to do my best so that I can help you · (~ ▽ ~)
